Mt Coot-Tha Residence

Mt Coot-Tha Residence

This residence was designed for a rare half hectare block of land located between the inner city and the suburban fringe of Brisbane. The design turned its back on the two adjoining properties and faced towards the semi-open bushland. It was important to create a flat useable area for the clients small children, so a central court was created by the use of the block retaining walls. The main living area opened directly onto the courtyard and pool.

A circular home office was incorporated into the centre of the living spaces so that children surveillance could take place. A large covered space was created over the central courtyard by spanning the bedrooms between the garage and living room. This space has a series of movable stainless steel and poly carbonate screens that created privacy while allowing air flow.
